MAGNUM REMIX ON CANBLASTER – MASTER OF COMPLICATION EP

Canblaster
“Master Of Complication”
Nightshifters NS020
Buy: iTunes, Juno Download, Beatport
The ticking time bomb that was the highly anticipated new Canblaster EP just exploded and it’s shattering minds! I just got to say that this is one of the top releases for 2011 and it’s not because my awesomely mind melting remix is on it… Go cop this right now!
Canblaster – Triple Ring (Magnum Remix) by MAGNUM BASS
Canblaster – Triple Ring – MASTER OF COMPLICATION EP by CANBLASTER (Club Cheval)
Canblaster – Clockworks by Nightshifters
From Nightshifters:
One doesn’t expect to speak about clocks when it comes to club music. “Master Of Complication” the new Ep by Canblaster, is a concept record about time, speed and, well, the complexity of watches. Of course there are many things about the music of Canblaster that is not what you expect. First of all, his music is ultra-melodic with an almost Zen like use of melodies that lifts you right off the ground. Then there’s the everything-including-the-kitchen-sink beats filled with details that always seem to point outward to an even larger world.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves, let us introduce you to Canblaster, aka Cédric Steffens, he’s from Northern France and he’s part of the Club Cheval crew that’s currently storming the scene. He’s only 22 but his unique ability to combine genres and sounds belie wisdom beyond his years. “Master Of Complication” is his first for Nightshifters and, to be honest, it’s so full of new noises we’re not really sure how to describe it.
“Clockworks”, the slowest track (132bpm), kicks it all off with a soaring melody of reverberant House stabs and ticking watch beats. One notch faster is “Triple Ring” (140bpm) with probably the catchiest vocal hook of the year! It’s a UK-influenced club smash like no other! Sure, people could call “Lost In The Shell” (160bpm) a juke/footwork styled tune, but they’d be overlooking all the other music smashing – it’s the hardest song of the lot and guaranteed to start fights! The release ends with “Timemaster’s Chronicles” (180bpm), a thrillingly progressive tune that remains true to the Ep’s R&B tinged spirit while hinting at every other musical genre in existence. Really!
In addition to 4 completely amazing original tracks, we have 4 completely amazing remixes. French superstars Para One & Teki Latex team up for one of their best remixes ever on “Clockworks”, a time-crushing fusion of synths past and present with added Robotic vocals. We’re proud to debut one of our new artists as well – Magnum takes “Triple Ring” and cuts it with superbly with breaks and a ton of atmosphere. Jubilee takes the same track to Miami, adds a touch of acid, and lets that bass boom! Bambounou takes “Timemaster’s Chronicles” and completely reconfigures it as a steamy northern UK bass masterpiece from the future!
Canblaster is also the first of a next generation of producers we’re proud to be working with. Together with Magnum (he’s next), Distal and Talk, they are a new generation of producers that are pushing the limits in a big way.
DEATHWAVE – BEHEMOTH OUT NOW

Deathwave – Behemoth, the first of a series of singles for badass NYC-based label Djs Are Not Rockstars dropped last February 8th, 2011.
It’s now available on all major online distributors. Get it!
From Turntable Lab:
Nathan Vice aka Deathwave fuses acid, techno, rave, and tropical elements for a dark, heavy electro monster “Behemoth.” The track is characterized big by bass, raw and crunchy synths, and galloping drum sequences – the perfect concoction for powerful dancefloor impact if you ask us.
To celebrate the release, Mr. Deathwave has put toghether a lil’ sumthin’for ya’ll:
Also, in celebration of the new release, I put together a little compilation of “oddities”. Old tracks and remixes that got lost in the vaults of time. Some are downloadable, some are not (for now). Peep the set for a few head nods, laughs, whatever.

NEW YORK TROPICAL COMP OUT TODAY feat. LA OLA CRIMINAL

It has dropped! La Ola Criminal esta rampante! We hit the streets with some massive speaker-wrecking mambo-ragga-crunk that’s taking soundsystems accross barrios worldwide by storm! Le borramos la cara a tus bocinas! COP THAT SHIT!
La Ola Criminal – Sin Gas NEW YORK TROPICAL PROMO by LA OLA CRIMINAL
From Dutty Artz:
After almost a year of work, New York Tropical is finally hitting digital shops today, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. 12 dope tracks, almost all unreleased, and styles from Funky to Cumbia with a little bit of ambient/Rupture in between for the subway ride home. Expect a few tracks to start leaking out into the internet and a new mix from me next week.
Until then, grab a copy.
itunes, boomkat, amazon, turntable lab, etc
1. Knight Magic – El Baile de la Cumbia
2. Rita Indiana – Los Poderes (Kingdom remix)
3. Matt Shadetek & Lamin Fofana – Sunshine City
4. La Ola Criminal – Sin Gas
5. Maga Bo – Analys D’Amour (instrumental)
6. DJ /rupture & Matt Shadetek – Sunset B35
7. DJ Orion – The Undertow (instrumental)
8. KG – I’m Feeling Funky
9. Nguzunguzu – El Bebe Ambiente (new mix + master)
10. DJ /rupture, Matt Shadetek, & Chief Boima – Elegy for Mr Peach (Rupture mix)
11. Lido Pimienta – La Minga (Sonora remix)
12. Matt Shadetek – This Is Love
From Turntable Lab:
12 exclusive tracks from Dutty Artz, the Brooklyn-based purveyors of tropical/global bass. The legendary New York Tropical is currently on a hiatus, but if you want to get a feel for how sweaty, funky, and awesome the party used to get, definitely jump on this release. The album opens with “El Baile De La Cumbia,” a dub-influenced digital cumbia track with a wicked vocoder layer, and moves on to Kingdom remix of Rita Indiana’s “Los Poderes,” a very minimally produced track with uk funky tendencies that focuses on very deep and expressive vocals (have no idea what she is saying). “Sin Gas” by La Ola Criminal” is another digital cumbia number that combines traditional instrumentation with elaborate synth lines and visceral sub bass, while “El Bebe Ambiente” by Nguzunguzu is characterized by the aggressive and charging (aka strictly for the dancefloor) feel. A solid comp for sure.
Peebra
From Boomkat:
DJ/Rupture and Matt Shadetek’s Dutty Artz imprint continue a heavyweight run of form this year with ‘New York Tropical’, gathering twelve new tracks from the likes of Rita Indiana (remixed by Kingdom!), Lamin Fofana, Maga Bo, DJ Orien, Nguzunguzu, Chief Boima and more. It’s essentially a brilliant overview of the label’s aesthetic and the wealth of Tropical fusions occurring in the crucible of the Big Apple, covering the spectrum of international dancefloor rhythms Brooklyn style. Top of the pile is Kingdom’s scorching rework of Caribbean megastar chanteuse Rita Indiana, cut with his usual blend of tranced-out R&B and big bwoy rhythms. UK Funky is repped with KG’s anthemic ‘Feeling Funky’, and La Ola Criminal take it uptempo Soca styles with ‘Sin Gas’. Other highlights have gotta be the WTF fusions of Knight Magic’s ‘El Baile de la Cumbia’, sounding like Bruce Haack meets El Hijo De la Cumbia, or the Zomby-esque gallop of Nguzunguzu’s ‘El Bebe Ambiente’ but we gotta give it dues- the whole comp is just outstanding. Fans of Radioclit, the Shangaan Electro comp, or any of the Dutty Artz releases should consider this album a priority purchase.

DJ DONNA SUMMER “MIXTAPE MONDAY”

A Magnum track recently made it to Mixtape Mondays on WeAreSkitzo.net mixed by Nightshifters label head DJ Donna Summer . Get to it:
DJ Donna Summer did a mix for Mixtape Mondays on WeAreSkitzo.net just out today. Like last week’s mix by I.D., he wrote a really great comment for the mix:
I’ve been feeling quite literate lately and have been wanting to get off the footpath a bit of late, so while there’s def some good club tunes in this mix, be warned it gets pretty arty. And why not? Sure there are mixes that are made for pre/post parties, dancing with friends and what not, but mostly I suspect people listen to them on their iPods while walking around or at a pretty quiet volume while they work. It’s a journey after all and maybe I have some story to tell.
As for the mix, it’s a bit of old and new with just a pinch of the random. It starts off with a collage of 3 tracks, 2 of them from the Sonic Youth side project Ciccone Youth and with a forthcoming new track on Nightshifters of one of our newest signings, Talk. From there it goes to a remix I made for Hostage, a great afro-pop influenced track by De?bruit, and another young act, NuJax, but then I get tricky throwing in a vintage Autchre track into an absolutely bizarre Christian Martin track- Ghosts. The rave shows back up with Magnum, a pretty sped up Nero-funk track by Mux Mool, a little touch of an old Dat Politics track then pretty much the entire “Revolting Jocks” track by the JOTS boys. Killer. From there we go back to 1990 and the always awesome “Hello Teenage America” from Meat Beat Manifesto’s incredible album 99%. We finish things off with another brand new producer, Distal from Atlanta, a touch of a freaked-out Morricone composition and then cap it off with the full version of “Tocatta” from Oslo’s Jaga Jazzist – a track that I always get lost in and also equally as inspired. – Jason Forrest aka DJ Donna Summer
01. Ciccone Youth – Me & Jill , Hendrix Cosby
02. Ciccone Youth – Macbeth II
03. Talk – Finland
04. Hostage – Roll (DJ Donna Summer remix)

06. Dooze Jackers – We Love Moogie (Nujax Remix)

EKOFIELD BAND OF THE MONTH @ 92.1 WPTS LIVE TONIGHT [28.4.10] 7PM

Ekofield is the collaborative project of producers Jose Rodriguez (aka Mr. Hamilton) and Andr?s Ortiz-Ferrari (aka Discuss). Both originate from San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they worked together on a number of projects during the 90’s before relocating to the Steel City in 2001 (Ortiz-Ferrari) and 2008 (Rodriguez). Often blending Latin-infused samples, vinyl-cracked drum blips, dense bass rhythms and beautifully constructed synth melodies, Ekofield texturally reflects their multi-cultural backgrounds. With this eclectic medley of sounds and influences comes an ability to elude the trap of any one particular genre. Ekofield’s grooves possess a hard-hitting hip-hop bounce, a down-tempo IDM ambience, and an electric soul that’s sure to make your hips move, whether you like it or not (trust me, you will). The duo is currently hard at work on their debut full-length, which they plan to release on UBeat Records in the near future. Stay up-to-date on Ekofield at www.myspace.com/ekofield.
